Our latest interview features Carly Morre from Precise Pilates. Carly is an avid pilates devotee and has been a regular gym-goer for many years. After the birth of her first child Carly discovered pilates and within months of attending classes she decided to sign up for her Certificate IV in Pilates.

Carly is passionate about helping clients move more freely and to provide challenges for balance, strength and endurance along the way. She loves seeing her clients range of movement increase and being part of the journey as they strive towards their goals.

In her interview Carly talks about what inspired her to start her own business, the benefits Precise Pilates can offer to individuals and duos of all ages and how pilates is a complete coordination of body, mind and spirit.

Tell us about Precise Pilates?

Precise Pilates was founded earlier this year and is a home-based Clinical Pilates studio in the leafy suburb of Mount Evelyn. We offer private sessions for individuals or duos to suit all ages and needs.

What inspired you to start your own business?

PASSION.

I discovered Pilates after my first pregnancy and following some difficulties with severe abdominal separation. I instantly loved the reformer machine and the versatility it provided. From there I went on to enjoy using all the different machines available during my Diploma of Clinical Pilates and throughout my second pregnancy.

What is Clinical  Pilates?

Clinical Pilates provides clients with an individualised and goal driven approach. Exercises are tailored for each person with sessions focusing on postural awareness, muscle and core strengthening, balance and coordination, control and range of movement, flexibility and breath.

What type of clients do you work with?

We offer programs to suit all abilities, pregnancy and beyond, rehabilitation and injury prevention, sports performance or general fitness and conditioning.

What can I expect from a session with Precise Pilates?

From our sessions at Precise Pilates we work in a space where you can focus on the mind-body connection, provide an opportunity to be guided with direction and feedback through your exercise, and where you feel supported to try new things. Our sessions are run for up to an hour in duration and will typically focus on all areas of the body so you leave feeling balanced and strong.

What are your top three tips for anyone who is thinking of starting Pilates?

  • Pilates can be both aerobic and anaerobic with intensity levels adjusted to suit personal skills and overall goals.
  • Allow yourself time to see and feel the results of your practice. Pilates works best with regular practice and a chance to form new neural connections and ways of moving.
  • Pilates is FUN, give it a go!

What’s next for Precise Pilates?

EXPANSION and further specialisation as I love learning and developing the knowledge to bring pilates to all members of the community. The next course I am looking at completing is Pilates for Neurological conditions.

Throughout 2020 we will also be increasing our hours to include evening sessions, and will be expanding the current studio space to add a ladder barrel, second reformer machine and other fun props to reflect my dual qualifications in Pilates and Personal Training.
